Is There Anyone Out There Who Can Provide Reliable Help With Statistics?
Yes, many people can provide that kind of help that you need, but you need to go one step at a time. Indeed, you need to assess your situation first and make sure you understand where you're standing at. First of all, are you taking a first statistics class (the so call "Stats 101")? Or is this a second stats class that you are now taking? That makes a big difference in the approach you will need to take.
Say you are taking your first stats class.
So now, you're needing statistics help, but why? Are you falling behind in your class? Are you not attending to the lectures? If that is the case, the first thing is to make sure that you attend all your classes, you show up to your T.A. sessions, you follow through all the statistics tutorials your instructor suggests you go through. So, if you are doing that and you are still lost, then well, you likely need more directed help from a stats tutor. There are many places online that are worth a try, like MyGeekyTutor, or many other paid alternatives. But you have a lot to choose from. You can even hit your local library (some people work better on their own than with a tutor)
Why Stats 101 Can be Harder That the Second Stats Course?
Well, it is not harder, it is only that more people have troubles with their first stats course. It is because it is new, it is scary, it is unforgiving. Nothing like high school. All those things count, and they can have a major effect on the mindset of a student. Some people recommend that in that case students should hit the library and study hard from lots of textbooks. I think differently. I think that for Stats 101 you must get helped by a tutor, who can help you build a strong foundation for what comes ahead. It is totally possible that you won't take another statistics class in your life, but what you learn with a tutor will be worth the fee you pay and more.
Even, I recommend working with a tutor as a preemptive measure, even if you are not falling behind in the class. Why? Multiple reasons: Some people really need good grades (either by a personal itch or because their career paths demand that), or because it will simply make your life easier. If you can afford a tutor, even if you don't need it, it would not be a bad idea at all.
Is the Second Stats class Equally Scary?
Not at all. If you are there, sitting in your second stats course, then it means that you passed your first class. You are a seasoned veteran now. Nothing scares you. You know the drill, you know what to do if you get lost, you know how to take advantage of the resources that are provided to you. You rock. Can you get lost still? Definitely. Will you need help with your stats? Possibly, but now you know how to find it.
The biggest difference is that now you are a veteran. If you are falling behind you will probably go to nag your instructor until he or she spells out the magic words that make you understand all the secrets that stats hold. Not so much, but you will know what to do.
